This project was to do an album design for comedian and musician Shirley Gnome. Shirley is known for her outrageously raunchy lyrics and over-the-top western-style clothing, from her pink cowboy hat to her glittery vagina dress and Elvis-style jumpsuits. She wanted a cover that looked vintage and retro, like a 70s album cover (see more details on this project here). The biggest challenge was that time was limited and we had very few photos to choose from. We really needed to do a professional photo shoot, but didn’t have the time or the budget. So we chose a photo taken by photographer Kia Rae during a studio session, and cropped it so that the main focus is Shirley’s hand. We got playful with the guts of the album as well. When you remove the CD, you take off her hat!
