Annie’s Sammies

When I was at design school, I packed deli style sandwiches in my lunch. One of my classmates asked me if I could pack her one too and she would buy it from me, since we were so busy and the cafeteria wasn’t close. The next day, another classmate asked me to bring him one, and before I knew it I was selling what soon became “Annie’s Sammies” branded sandwiches at school (Annie is my nickname with my family). It started out as a comprehensive branding project, and as it grew larger I brought on my friend and classmate Michelle Booth to help. We expanded the project into the next quarter as a mobile app, back-end POS system, ordering and pick-up system and responsive landing page. We did many rounds of extensive user testing with folks at a local sandwich shop to develop the app prototype, and did to-scale floor plans of the truck. We then coded a responsive webpage using HTML and CSS. I even tried my hand at some food photography. Annie’s Sammies was then “pitched” to the class as a sandwich truck that would operate out of downtown Vancouver.
